This plugin automatically uploads all attachments to a CDN provider like Amazon AWS or Google Cloud. Attachments on the website will then be delivered through the CDN provider. This increases the delivery speed and decreases your server load.

FAQ

What are the first steps after installing the plugin?

After installation you should search for the plugin options. Put your access data for your preferred CDN provider there and select it. If you have many attachments on your site you should upload those in the ACP via Management > Rebuild Data -> Upload attachments to CDN. This may take some minutes to hours. It is recommended to execute this step via CLI:

(see CLI Import). This step can be executed multiple times without any problems.

Do the CDNs cost anything?

Most CDNs like Amazon AWS and Google Cloud have a free contingent that smaller sites can use. If your site is larger and has many views, the CDNs will usually cost something. Depositing a valid credit card is always necessary to use the service.

Can other CDNs be used in addition to AWS and Google Cloud?

Do I have to adapt my data protection regulations?

Hello,

When trying to view ACP->Content->Attachment I get the error below.
Not sure if this is a problem with Woltlab, plugin or my CDN setup. So far none of my files have been uploaded to Google Cloud bucket.

So I did some testing. It seems that this error only comes if you have a fresh Woltlab install without any attachments uploaded. I uninstalled the plugin, uploaded some attachments and then installed it again, that fixed the problem above.
I still have problems with getting it to upload ot Google storage, but I'm guessing that the problem is on the Google-end with one of the many settings.

Grundsätzlich wäre es toll, wenn das Plugin einen kurzen Connection Health Check macht, wenn man die Credentials eingibt und abspeichert. So könnte man ausschließen, dass es die Zugangsdaten sind.

Ja, jedoch kann es etwas dauern, wenn das Plugin gerade erst installiert wurde. Es werden nämlich auch per Cronjob alte Dateianhänge verarbeitet, die ggf. vor den neuen Dateianhängen verarbeitet werden.

Wenn du viele Dateianhänge hast, empfielt es sich, die Aktualisierung der Anzeige per Kommandozeile. Siehe dazu auch die Beschreibung des Plugins.

The plugin uses https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk-php for the AWS implementation. If this is compatible with Blackblaze B2, then yes. Otherwise you would need to program a compatible class as an extension for this plugin.

Die Möglichkeit zur Verwendung von Cloudfront an Stelle von S3 wäre wünschenswert. Hierfür müsste es lediglich eine Checkbox geben (Cloudfront verwenden - Ja/Nein) und ein Textfeld für die Cloudfront-URL. Im Ergebnis sollen die Dateien dann über xyz.cloudfront.net ausgeliefert werden anstatt über bucket.s3.amazonaws.com.

Die Anhänge bleiben lokal vorhanden, so dass nach einer Deinstallation des Plugins alles weiterhin vorhanden ist.

Dann habe ich mich von der Beschreibung irreleiten lassen, denn der Webspace wird dabei ja nicht "geschont", sondern nur der Traffic.

Du kannst die Daten recht einfach per Cronjob löschen. Einfach den Ordner /wcf/attachments leeren - natürlich alles auf eigenes Risiko!

Got it working after some trial and error in the Google Cloud Console
A bit disappointed that it doesn't upload files from Filebase to the storage. You can work around this by uploading attachments instead of files, but then you don't have the version-feature.

Would love to see this plugin evolve and that it get a function to handle files uploaded to the filebase.
Some documentation/tutorial for setting up the storage on AWS or Google would be much appreciated.
Haven't found this plugin on darkwood.design website, so I hope it doesn't get abandoned. Btw, that website and especially the support page should be translated into english.

Hatze zwar Anfangs Probleme mit der Installation des Plugins, was aber glaube an meinem Server liegt, aber am Ende funktionierte alles wie versprochen.
Sämtliche Forenanhänge liegen nun auf dem S3 und entlasten somit den Server. Für die User sind die Zugriffe auf das Forum jetzt außerdem etwas schneller geworden.
Wenn jetzt noch das automatische Löschen von Attachments auf dem Server mit dem Forum, nach dem Upload auf das CDN hinzugefügt wird, dann ist es perfekt.

Wir setzen das Plugin bereits seit der Beta-Version ein und möchten auch nicht mehr darauf verzichten. Es spart uns sehr viel Traffic (wir reden hier von mehreren GigaByte) bei monatlichen Kosten von weniger als einem Euro (AWS S3).
Einziges Problem ist die wohl umständliche Einrichtung der CDN-Anbieter. Das liegt aber nicht an dem Plugin und wer sich das nicht zutraut, kann sicherlich auch bei Christopher Walz nach Hilfe fragen.
