Issue in the notification settings page

I have looked into this and there really is no easy solution for that. Spanish appears to be a bit of an outlier here with other languages (including the notoriously difficult French) appear to either use a similar term for email or at least allow it as an alternative.

Realistically, I do not see an option here without completely redesigning this UI from scratch. Is it possible to use a shorter term in this particular place instead?

No, not really. The same UI is used for smartphones too and when you try resizing to that resolution you will understand why the fixed width columns are in place.
