Rebuilding the header section.

This is more or less the previous default layout. You will definitely find such a style for the current version.
-
Yes, but this is a proposal for the layout, not the appearance
I was based on the default template.
-
If you prefer the old look, you can just use a style designed like this; but for the standard style that would be a step backwards.
-
I will disagree that this big blank space in the header is now a step forward
-
My bet will go for number one.
After dealing with many styles with control panel buttons on header, it's awful idea to put these on such spot.
-
That would be more or less exactly the old style.
-
I think it does not matter if this is the old style or not, it is more practical. I also agree with this change.
I know there is always the option of custom styles, and there are some nice ones in the shop here. However, in many cases I prefer to use the default style to avoid problems after upgrading to the new version.
Maybe it would be a good idea to have both options in the style setting and be able to easily switch to whichever we prefer.
In my honest opinion, there is a huge waste of space on the right side of the logo. At least we can have the search box there.

There is one of the possible places for advertisements. The area is also ideal for larger header images or seasonal decorations. Not everyone just has a small logo on the left.

So based on your comment is exactly why we need to have both of the options
-
You could also just use a style like this.
-
Yes, but as I mentioned in my previous message, I prefer not to use a custom style on many of my sites because of the problems that can occur after each upgrade.
-
Then there's probably nothing you can do about it. The layout can be customized by adjusting templates and/or design. But that's out of the question for you.

Why do you need an option if you simply need only a few lines of SCSS to achieve this kind of "layout"?

At first I liked the suggestion, because I think the current style can be modernised with small details, but I think Geronimo is right on this point. This area is designed for the placement of advertisements.

Advertising in the header, i.e. the most important section on the website? Good joke.
-
Just because you don’t need it, doesn’t mean nobody does. And the software provides such functionality. To me it seems everything you don’t use is bad for you and everyone who is against a suggestion of you is, too.
-
I completely agree with all the suggestions, but I wonder why it wouldn't be possible to have a header builder, it shouldn't be too difficult to define some conditions for the development team. And it would also be a great addition for style developers, giving them more options to create versatile styles.
I know it may only be a few lines of code, but considering my time, I would prefer to always use the default style on my own sites. For my clients I use highly customised installations, but not for myself.
I think WoltLab has much more to offer and there are some small touches that make a big difference.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree. Advertising is very important to many customers. You can also define dynamic placeholders in this area. But I think both options should be available to us via a drop down menu or something like that.
-
It can be an advertising banner, an advent calendar, an invitation to subscribe or donate, a countdown for an event ...
I think it's important that there is an option to use that location if you need it or to improve the header in a simple way with a bit of CSS.
