WAMP package updates failed

Hi, my Flarum import was successful. Partial though. It did not detect the tags aka categories and put them all under one single forum as seen below

Assuming that there is an importer update (5.5.10 -5.5.11), I tried to go ahead with it. But got the following error

    Quote

    Failed to HTTPRequest

    File:

    C:\wamp64\www\woltlab\lib\util\HTTPRequest.class.php in line 280

It is the beginning part of a long error.

To be clear, it read those tags, which are supposed to be categories in Flarum as labels - as seen below

  • As long as your tags are available (despite being in a different format than you wish), the importer works as expected. I would rather create the categories manually and use the filter or the mass processing from within the administration control panel to move the desired threads to their category.

  • Morik , please see

  • I am reinstalling WAMP now. Not sure why it behaved like that. I did follow that tutorial for SSL. Probably that. Thanks.

    Edit :

I am hoping for more magic from an updated version of the importer. Hence the effort.

  • Hi

As long as your tags are available (despite being in a different format than you wish), the importer works as expected. I would rather create the categories manually and use the filter or the mass processing from within the administration control panel to move the desired threads to their category.

This is the correct answer. When building the importer we closely worked with a customer that wanted to migrate from Flarum to decide on how the importer should behave. Flarum categories are more similar to our labels than to our regular forum structure, because multiple categories can technically be applied to a single thread. Importing flarum categories into a regular forum structure would therefore be lossy, whereas using labels would not. The admin is in the best position to decide on how to organize the threads using the bulk processing functionality after the fact.

I am hoping for more magic from an updated version of the importer. Hence the effort.

Keeping the software up to date is always a good thing, but if the changelog doesn't mention a change, there isn't one. The Flarum importer was last updated in June 2022 and unless an actual bug pops up or there is new functionality in Flarum that can be imported, it's very unlikely that there will be an update to the importer.

  • Thanks Tim Düsterhus , all

I manually moved the topics to the right board by selecting them by labels and moving them to newly created forums using mod tools. I believe the migration was a success locally. Hoping to export the database and import it to a fresh install on my hosting.

Or is it better to use the importer again?
