How to get "Create Thread" button on forum list

  • Affected Version
    WoltLab Suite 5.5

    Hi all,

5.5 introduced a create thread button on the main forum list, yet despite looking everywhere (I think) I cannot find how to enable this function. I had assumed it would appear by default, but it hasn't.

Can someone please let me know how to do this?

    Many thanks

    Jupiter

  • Thanks for the reply.

I've made no template changes, that I'm aware of, and I don't think there are any plugins on my site now, but I will investigate further.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Ah, I was about to investigate "templates" but yes, there is a separate "style" for my site.

I shall have a check now, thanks.

  • What plugins are installed?

There is only one now by Kitt Media called "Own Post List."

Previously, I've had mulitple plugins in past versions.

  • I changed the style back to the WoltLab style and it didn't make a difference. I've changed it back now.

Somwhere, something is "stuck" in the system preventing the create thread button from appearing. :/

Is there anyway to do some kind of reset and flush out anything in the software that shouldn't be there now?

  • In 5.5 we made some significant changes to how the buttons on top of the content section work. The primary button is now “physically” located next to the title for technical reasons. There is nothing wrong with that, but since you set the title of that page to an empty value, that section is removed from the code and also removes the placeholder for the primary button.

That’s a bit of a strange behavior, but I don’t see an easy way to make this work without a title.

However, adding the title again will make the button appear too. It’s not an ideal solution, but at least fixes the issue for now.

  • Thank you Alex, much appreciated.

And although its early, have a great Christmas. :)
