I like when you post a link to an article on Facebook, a preview of thumbnails comes up and the final post looks like the attached image with the first few lines of the article.
WordPress have this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-link-preview/

Hi,
That sounds interesting.
How do you think it could be added in the post ? At the bottom of all text ?
I actually looked into this, but I also asked myself how I can present that data at all places(e.g. an article), too. So in case somebody has a great idea, I'm here to make it happen and publish it on the plugin-store.
I really like the idea of simply pasting the link, maybe after hitting a small button (as per the Word Press plugin describes), giving the article link much more presence in the post, inviting the user to read it.
I'm not a dev, so would have no idea how to build a plugin.
It'd be good as a mouseover feature, but if you're embedding links in the middle of a serious discussion it could upset the flow of your writing.

In our forum I've set up a board for How To threads which would include an already published article, so this would be ideal.

Show this block on link hover could be the best solution, of course !
jens1o seems to be interested to develop it, so why not
How would that work? The most important is that the viewer clicks and goes to the article of course. Isn't hover less obvious?
So maybe an option to select the way it's displayed..
Well yes because the Word Press plugin offers the preview article pic and teaser text including the headline/title of the article.
That was the dilemma I was trying to avoid.

Explain?
From my point of view, it is difficult to present the link, so it works everywhere, because I'd like to avoid having literally hundreds of cases where I'm going to check(so Article not minimalistic, but in Threads it should be minimalistic).
Surely it would appear the same in every post in the forum IE copy the article URL and paste into the post.
This article for example would appear in a post but with a preview and some teaser text.

In Facebook you get a choice normally of thumbnail.
Then it looks like this when posted:
I think maybe this could be achieved through Media Provider Collection , which I have installed. For example, I pasted a BBC article into my forum and a preview appeared very nicely.
I would probably need to get in touch with the_waiters for the regular expression and html code for adding a provider, such as Daves Computer Tips, I mentioned earlier.
I've just posted on their website, so thanks.
Hello,
a media provider isn't the right way,
SoftCreatR: I saw something like a link preview on your old website. Maybe this is something for you...
