Login to user account and change the post owner plugins

  • vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=233350

But in order for this to work one would need the other persons password. One has to link the accounts,
I would suggest to create a test user and provide him the same settings as the user you want to test features.

  • Thanks for there reply,

No you dont need their password. This plugin puts a link like "login as user" in all user profiles for the specified admin and by clicking on this link you will automatically login to the user's account. And in the header a message appears saying that you are in someone else's account.

It is really a handy plugin which only lets the specified admin to use this feature.

  • Change post owner plugin (change who made the post and also the date/time) is very important for me. I've been using it with vbulletin for 8 years. It's so important to my work flow that I'd say if it doesn't exist and can't be developed for WSF then it's a deal breaker. What is the current status on this kind of plugin?

Or at the least just change date/time?

  • Not having the change post owner or at least change date/time of post is unfortunately a deal breaker for me. I already purchased the Woltlab forum and gallery and it's wonderful software. But without this plugin I feel crippled. Is there anyone I can pay to develop this plugin fast? Cyperghost says his will not be ready soon, and that it will not have the change date/time of post feature.

SoftCreatR might be able to develop it as well

  • I'm not a coder and don't understand how vbulletin and wsf differ in this aspect. But I can tell you there has been no unforeseen problems with this plugin in vbulletin, for many users over 10 years. What is it specifically about wsf that doesn't allow it?

  • It's not, that you just change the authors name and that's it... Statistics have to be re-calculated on every change, post counters, automatic group promotions based on post and thread count, etc. And depending on the installed plugins, there's much more information that may need to be changed, which you can't cover.

Btw... Comparing WSF with VBulletin is like comparing pears with apples.

  • I would love to gain a better understanding how vb and wsf differ programming wise, but I'm sure it's beyond my scope at this time.

I don't mind if the occasional post owner change is not reflected in post count, thread count and group promotions. Perhaps the plugin can be made, with a disclaimer to that affect.

To be clear, in your opinion do you think such a plugin is impossible or just too difficult to program?

The vbulletin mod does both change post owner and change date/time. Between the two functions the change date/time is more important to me. Is it possible to at least make a plugin that changes post date/time?

I don't know how the majority of wsf users run their forums. I love my community, but the forum also funnels customers to my business. For this good SEO practices is essential, but is not everything. Continuity in threads is key. The change date/time plugin allows me to tweak threads for maximum affect without infringing on members privacy and negatively affecting participation.

  • I would totally agree with you. It is a pity that WBB lacks this option.

  • I tried to buy your plugin. I don't speak German and can't figure out your checkout process even with google translator.

I can help you if you want. However, Google Translate is the worst. Try DeepL.com. It's near perfect ;)
