PayPal changing to TLS 1.2

  • Been reading that PayPal is changing soon using TLS 1.2, I was wondering if this is going to affect PayPal being used in WBB 4.1 for things like paid subscriptions? As I know reading that XenForo have had to make some changes in a new release to cater for this change coming soon with PayPal... so I'm just wondering how WBB 4.1 stands with this also, if it might break things?

  • I was reading this part of PayPals blog about it. Does that mean any forums running on HTTP and not HTTPS won't be able to use the paid subscriptions. Your forums needs to be running HTTPS

The most secure protocol for sharing information on the web today is Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.2. PayPal is enabling support for TLS 1.2 for all secure connections and in 2016 will start requiring its use. You will need to verify that your environment supports TLS 1.2 and if necessary make appropriate updates. PayPal is updating its services to require TLS v1.2 for all HTTPS connections on June 17, 2016. After that date, all TLS v1.0 and TLS v1.1 API connections will be refused.
