The SoftCreatR Shoutbox - A micro chat system that leaves almost nothing to be desired!

The SoftCreatR Shoutbox is an extension for the WoltLab Suite version 3 or higher, which can be seamlessly integrated into your community. By using the internal box system almost all possibilities are open for you to display the box(s) at the wished place. You are not limited to one single box, but you can create any number of independent boxes, for example an internal chat for your team members, as well as a chat for the general public and/or guests. The Shoutbox has a maximum of functionality, but just enough to keep the activities in the rest of your community in the background.

Are you already using a Shoutbox from another provider? No problem! The SoftCreatR Shoutbox is compatible with other Shoutbox extensions, so after your purchase you have the opportunity to continue using your existing Shoutbox and to put the SoftCreatR Shoutbox through its paces.

You don't use a Shoutbox yet, but would like to use one in the future, but can't decide? No problem either! Let us simply give you a handful of reasons to make your decision easier.

The SoftCreatR Shoutbox can be described in three words: fast, slim and user-friendly. By using Static Polling¹, HTML5 Web Storage² and Markdown³ we set new standards in terms of performance and usability.

¹ = Static polling describes nothing else than reading files on your webspace where the chat history is stored. The (optional) use of this method drastically reduces the server load (by up to 98%) because the messages are not read directly from the database. This method is particularly suitable for larger, highly frequented communities.

² = HTML5 Web Storage, also known as Local Storage, is a limited amount of available storage in the browser. This can for example prevent additional (and above all unnecessary) requests to the server if the web page is opened in multiple tabs at the same time.

³ = Markdown is a simple syntax for generating HTML code from text documents, based on the formatting of plain text e-mails. Similar to BBCode, Markdown is used to give users the ability to create and format content without any knowledge of HTML. This should be a blessing especially for mobile phone users, but also for desktop users, since we have not used the WYSIWYG editor for performance reasons, which basically requires the manual writing of BBCode. The following are a few simple examples of text formatting:

- Both from [i]Hello World[/i] (BBCode), and from _Hello World_ (Markdown) or alternatively *Hello World* (Markdown) becomes Hello World
- Both from [b]Hello World[/b] (BBCode), and from __Hallo World__ (Markdown) or alternatively **Hallo World** (Markdown) becomes Hello World
- Both from [i]Hello World[/i] (BBCode) and **_Hallo World_** (Markdown) or alternatively ***Hallo World*** (Markdown) become Hello World
- Both from [s]Hello World[/s] (BBCode), as well as from ~~Hallo World~~ (Markdown) becomes Hello World
- Both from [quote]Hello World[/quote] (BBCode), as well as from > Hallo Welt (Markdown) becomes

• Full screen mode
  Offer your users a completely new shoutbox experience using the full-screen mode.
  The full screen mode can be (de-)activated for each individual shoutbox by clicking or tapping on the corresponding icon.
  Additionally the full screen mode can be activated by pressing ALT + ENTER and closed by ESCAPE.
  On the smartphone, the full screen mode can also be terminated by pressing the back key.

• Shoutbox Synchronization
  Synchronize the content of different installed (SoftCreatR) Shoutboxes for maximum flexibility.
