XAMPP on Ubuntu : Support for WebP images in GD missing

Hi, trying to install locally using XAMPP on Ubuntu 22.04. test.php says

Support for WebP images in GD missing

I ignored it and went ahead with the installation. At 13% it says " GD library or ImageMagick not installed ". I have ImageMagick installed and found some entry called gd2.dll in the php.ini

Googled, but couldn't find a solution. Any pointers will be great. Thanks.

There is no way unless it is built in by Apache Friends. It would probably be easier if you use the Ubuntu features (PHP, Apache and Mysql). You can install them via console.

I see this in XAMPP info.php

GD enabled, webp support enabled. But I still get the " Support for WebP images in GD missing " error.

I can't see on your screen that webp support is enabled

Where do you see enabled WebP support in your screenshot? There isn’t any. The only thing with ”W“ is WBMP, which is something completely different.

Looks like this is an existing issue with XAMPP. Tried WAMP and good to go.
