Cloudfare problems. Do you use caching on your site?

  • Affected Version
    WoltLab Suite 3.0

I turned on Cloudfare caching for my site last night, but I am having odd problems with my site.

The main one being that in the editor box, if I click a smilie, it won't insert into the editor box. If I click ctrl and refresh on my browser, then it works fine, but when I go to another thread or forum, the issue keeps reoccurring.

Does anyone here use Cloudfare on their site or other caching?. Have you ever had these smilie issues or something similar?

Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this? I've purged the cache at Cloudfare, but it makes no difference.

    Many thanks

    Jupiter

I'll go and check about Rocketloader now, thanks.

  • Found the RocketLoader setting and I switched it off a hour ago, but the problems still happen.

Regarding the translation of mejs in English. Is it by purpose to use TypeScript syntax?

Firefox is complaining, that it is not part of a javascript module:

SyntaxError: export declarations may only appear at top level of a module

Perhaps this is the reason behind it, it is just not valid JS syntax afaik. (Despite that Safari and Internet Explorer aren't supporting const.)

  • Thanks Jens, I was having problems with a plug-in the other day, I wonder if this is the same problem, see here (go to post #5):

  • I've applied the updates, but I'm still getting the problems.

I want to keep the caching on, in case of another DDoD attack, but I don't know how to resolve this problem.

  • Ok, thanks SoftCreatR. Do you reckon I should turn the caching back off again?. And how can I prevent a DDoS attack.

(By the way, I am using your IP tools plug-in.Love that!)

  • If your ip is known, Cloudflare cannot protect you from DoS and you'll have to rely on your host.

Turning off the cache is not required. Turn off rocket loader and clear the complete cache via Cloudflare. That might fix it. If not, post a screenshot of your caching settings at Cloudflare.

  • Thanks Dutch. I had enough of the caching a few days ago, so switched it off.

  • Who knows what all the problems were/are, you know what my internet speed is like, perhaps that's a issue too.

Rocket Loader is indeed an issue, and it has a reason that after this many years they still consider it a Beta version.

We're using Cloudflare ourselves since Winter 2013 without exceptions, and it was running pretty smooth the whole time. But yeah, also not using the Rocket Loader, but it's not required at all with our software, so you're good to go.
