Sitemaps enhancement in 3.1

Pleasing to see Sitemaps in the beta versions of WSC3.1 from the plugin created by Joshua Rüsweg .

Having looked at this function in the beta, it is still somewhat limited in function as compared to other forum software.

In vbulletin 5, I was able control the frequency of search engine scans and importance of the content for each individual forum on my site.

As most users have sites based around forums, it would be very useful if this enhancement could be included in 3.1, please can you consider it?

Some forums may be of lesser importance and get less activity than others, and it would be great to control precisely how the search engines scan my site.

Except that Google doesn't really care for both the frequency and the priority (this is what the importance is internally referred by). Luckily, this is one of the rare cases where there is an actual official statement on this from Google: https://www.seroundtable.com/g…cy-xml-sitemap-20273.html, the quote from John is important here, it's taken from the video shown in the article. This is from the "Google Webmasters" YT-channel, an official channel from Google.

So yeah, we could give you these options, but they will have little to no impact on your site performance. That's why we left this out and put that effort into some other features instead

Fair enough, Alexander.

The Google man is stating that a timestamp is important. Will that be incorporated into 3.1?

I noticed in the beta there is a option in the core to add meta tags into the header code now. I have a feeling that will come in useful.

It already is, the field is called <lastmod> and is automatically included for all supported types.
