I have hot threads box available on home page. Sadly, it is dominated by recent posts than popular content. By all metrics, like most liked, most viewed etc, there is total domination of very recent threads in this sidebar box. Any chance we can improve to show popular content ? Or even set a timeline by admin, like hot threads in last 30 days or so ?

Hot threads, recent threads dominate

Perhaps this is a translation error??
The "hot" threads are not hot, but recent. It is a recent threads box and perhaps should be renamed, unless it is a "hot" threads box and the box is not functioning correctly. My "hot" threads box works the same as yours on my forum.
I've noticed several other things like this, but I am not sure whether they are translation errors, or whether things are working exactly as shown.

The hot thread box can in a forum with little activity be quite similar to recent posts box. But the two are different, while recent posts only evaluates time os posting, the hot thread is a more complex calculation with number of posts, visits, and so on.

Thank you Barungar, that is very helpful.

There was a comparable thread in the german section some time a ago.
In that thread even the formula to calculate a "hot thread" was posted:
const TEMPERATURE_FORMULA = '((((thread.replies + .1) * 50 + thread.views) * 1000000000000) / POWER(UNIX_TIMESTAMP() - thread.time, 1.5))';
-
Perhaps the hot threads box could be tweaked so that new threads do not appear in it??
Clearly new threads are not hot, but new, as per Dilip's request.

I'm getting really irritated by this now.
Look at this:
Two of those threads are not "hot" by any sensible metric with zero replies and only a few views. Can the developers please correct this?
By the way, where is the recent threads box, can't see one?
Edit: I've just noticed that "Insert All" does not now insert the full pictures, but only the thumbnails after this was corrected. I hope this won't be how this functions in the new version of the software after this issue was corrected in the current software.

Just to update this thread, but looking at this "Box" in the latest beta and it's been vastly improved.
The useless "hot" feature is still there, but now Woltlab allows you options in how to display threads in this box whether its by date, topic or activity (the real hotness) etc. Have a look here at the options:
Well done Woltlab.
