Quote system. Removing quotes, getting rid of source/author option

  • My users are having issues and with the quote system. I have maybe 900 members, and some have been starting threads about how much they hate some things about the quote system. We have switched from SMF.

I have explained the many ways of how to use the quote system, and have pointed out how superior the BB quote system is, but I have to agree with two complaints.

    1. you cannot easily remove a quote from your post (that I know of) and sometimes you can't remove the quote at all. The only way I have been able to remove a quote box is to left-click above the quote box and the hit "delete" a few times until the quote box is gone. This does not always work though. Sometimes when you do this, the cursor jumps into the quote box and there is no way that I've found to delete the quote when it does that. It should be simple to delete unwanted quote boxes, but it doesn't seem to be.

    2. the source/author popup box. Is there a way to disable that? It doesn't even work when I use it, but nobody uses it anyway. It's just an extra annoyance to click past. I'd like to get rid of it.

Click the little box on the top and all the way to the left of the editor and you will see this:

It's very easy to edit then.

If you want to quote something without the source/author box just type
pasted text that you want to quote
or
pasted text that you want to quote
.

  • Thanks, PJK. I still would like to remove the quote/author popup. My users are not going to manually enter bbc code. I really wouldn't want to do that myself when the quote feature works so well.

It would just be so much better to be able to delete the quote without having to switch to bbc edior too, but that's probably acceptable.

  • Still looking for help to remove the popup dialog box for source/author when using the quote button to insert quotes.
