Lost ability to see all content on Forum Page

  • Since yesterday - January 15, 2015 - when logged in as Administrator, I cannot see or view all the content on the Main Forum Page.
Dashboard Page appears to be unaffected, as content can still be seen there.

Before this condition occurred, I had changed permissions on a few of the Categories and Forums so that Guests would not be able to see Avatars or see "Replies" and "Last Reply" info to the right of the Thread Title.
After changing just a few Forums I checked to see if - as Administrator - I could still see all the info.
And yes, I still was able to.

I only got through about 6 or 7 Categories of changes, and then went onto other projects.
Later, came back to continue working on changing more of the Forums permissions - and it was then, logged in as Administrator -
I could no longer see the entire information on the Content Side.

The Dashboard Side appears to be unaffected.

BELOW are 2 Snap Shots explaining / showing what I am discussing here.
Hopefully someone can tell me what happened and to correct the settings - if any - so that I can again see all the content as Administrator.

    ADDITIONAL INFO:
After the problem surfaced, and logged in as Admin much later, I also noticed that even the GUESTS were unable to see the "Replies",
AVI pics, etc., etc., INCLUDING the Categories and Forums of which I did NOT change the permissions to.

Also: I went through the ENTIRE SECTION regarding USER GROUPS > ADMINS; Members; Guests; etc., etc., and the three main settings groups on that page in the ACP for Administrators, et al. ALL settings seem to be in such order that gives the Admin COMPLETE ACCESS.

I went through the entire menu of "OPTIONS" (from the ACP) to see if anything was incorrectly checked or marked or whatever.
I cannot see anything that is incorrect.

Snap shot of the info that is now missing:

Original View of what Guest saw after I made Permission Change

CURRENT view of Dashboard as seen by a Guest when logged in

CURRENT view of what Guest sees when logged into Main Forum Page

CURRENT Admin View logged main Forum Page; and ADMIN VIEW OF MAIN FORUM PAGE - SIMULATED

CURRENT Admin view when logged into Dashboard Page

I sure hope someone can tell me what happened and how to fix this, as I have looked at every possible section of the ACP that I can think of
and have thus far been unable to determine WHY information is being blocked out from the Admin.

    UPDATE OF INFORMATION, COMMENTS:
Tonight (16 January 2016) I went back into "Forums" and re-checked my Permission Settings for the FIRST THREAD under the FIRST CATEGORY Listing on the Main Forum Page, to wit: MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Then I went to the FIRST CATEGORY and corresponding Forum OF WHICH I DID NOT CHANGE THE PERMISSIONS FOR - before this problem,
and up to the present time as i type this.

The bottom line being: THERE ARE NO DIFFERENCES (NO changes) IN THE PERMISSIONS SETTINGS FOR MY CATEGORIES AND FORUMS
from the time I first made the changes, to the time I noticed a problem with me Administrator NOT being able to see the forum info (as snap shot #8 - counting from the top).

In addition to the above, just to try something, I did make Permission Changes for JUST the first Thread (as named above in red).
I GAVE A COMPLETE "allow" to ALL users, to wit: "Administrators", "Members", "Guests", "Users", "Everyone".

Then went back and logged into the forum. Looked at the Forum Main Page as Administrator. NO CHANGE - still cannot see all the info
that should be showing to the RIGHT of the Thread Title.

    So what happened?
Maybe PJK is correct, maybe there is a "bug"?

  • Maybe you changed the permissions for "Everyone" instead of "Guests"? I'm not sure why you would be able to see things on the Dashboard if that happened though.

I believe I made changes (of the Categories / Forums that I did change) to: Administrators; Members; Guests; Users; Everyone -
as when I originally make out Categories and Forums I always apply these five to the Permissions Setting.

As I stated in my first post above, everything was alright ..... until much later in the day I came back to this project to continue with making
adjustments and changes as to WHAT Guests would be able to see and what they could not see.
It was then that I could no longer (as logged in as Admin) see the Replies, Last Views, AVI info.

Dashboard Side has not been affected.

I think I would create a support ticket for this. It's very odd that you can still see things on the Dashboard, maybe it's a bug in the script.

Strange you should mention the word "bug"! I thought about this too earlier today, leading me to think someone (perhaps) hacked into the
"back end" ? (I think that is the correct terminology)

Reason why I think it is a possibility is the fact, after logging back in late yesterday afternoon, I also had a language problem - parts of
the "Terms of Use" notice, and other parts like "submit", "log out", etc.,etc., were all of sudden coming out as German rather than English.
However, I did manage to correct that on my own - (and I can assure everyone reading this I did NOT in any way mess around with the
language settings prior to this occurrence!)

    UPDATE: 19 January 2016 @ 4:52 AM PST
According to Andrea Berg of Woltlab the problem was caused by my Categories / Forums NOT all being of the SAME language setting - or at
least that is what I understand from what was stated.

    Glad this issue is over!

    UPDATE: 18 January 2016 @ 1:13PM PST
Some progress has been made - as most things are working properly (after following Andrea Berg's instructions). She said it was a "language"
problem. However, that does NOT explain everything, as there is still the issue of the Avatar - and info that is suppose to display next to it,
e.g, on the Main Forum Page:
Thread Name>Threads>Posts> Avatar>Title Name of the Thread started within that Main Thread, Author of the Thread / Post, and the Date and Time of the LAST Reply.

On my forum, this information does NOT display regardless of who is logged in: Me as Admin, A member, Moderator, or Visitor.
Info did display properly BEFORE there were problems with my Forum (last date everything was working OK was 15 January 2016).

Does anyone reading this know WHERE to go in the ACP (or elsewhere?) to configure the "permissions" or other "settings" so that the info I am referring to here will display on my Forum's Main Page?
I will upload a screen shot here in a few minutes so it is clear as to what information does NOT appear of which I refer to above.

    UPDATE: 17 January 2016 @ 9:17 PM PST
I decided to do a little more experimenting: I logged in as Administrator and made a click on "Reply" within one of established Forums, i.e.,
"General Information - You Should Read This!" I typed in a few lines of text and clicked on "Submit". Guess what happened? Even though I am the Administrator, this reply apparently did NOT get posted. Reason? Waiting for "approval"! And the top task bar showed (Moderation Box)
showed that I had a posting to approve!

And it gets worse: So I clicked on the Thread of which I made this post reply to see if my post reply showed (it does show, and I took a
Screen Shot of this), but the COLOR of the font for this NEW reply is in GREEN.
Everything from previous postings, replies, etc., etc., has always been in BLUE font.

Obviously my Forum is messed up in a BIG way!

    First Update to Original Post:

Rather than to add more text and Screen Shots to the original post, I thought it best to do so in this "reply" post.

Below are Screen Shots showing that I was SUCCESSFUL in creating a NEW Category and Forum ("Test"), and I used the same Permissions
    for this "test Forum" as I was using previously before the issue developed. To wit: Admin - ALL; Members - ALL; Users - ALL;
Guests - View Only; Everyone - View Only. Everything displays as I intended it to be (in this NEWLY created Category and Forum!)

NOTE: It would appear that I am wrong about "Everything displays as I intended it to be .." as I just checked the Dash Board Page -
as logged onto the forum as a Visitor.
The latest Forum Statistics DO NOT appear in the Dash Board when logged in as a Visitor.
They only show when logged in as Administrator.

Creating this NEW Category and Forum has not had any effect on the EXISTING Categories and Forums regarding the problem
discussed in my first post above.

So the QUESTION that remains is:
HOW do I get my 49 Categories - and the Forums that go with them - to display info as in the Screen Shots included below?

Is it even possible? Or am I going to have to DELETE everything on my Forum and start over? :(
Just the thought of that makes me want to go out to the nearest bar (saloon) and have about 10 Martinis.

NOTE: I opened a Support Ticket last night based upon my first post above. They do not have this latest info from me.
