2.1 -- drop down menu Categories

    WoltLab Suite Blog

    edit:I withdraw my original suggestion

I would very much like to add more categories. I would also like to allow my members to add their own categories. But the current design layout is a bit of problem. At the moment it looks like this, which is a lot to scroll past and would only be a bigger eyesore, not to mention not mobile friendly if I continued to add more.

This is what it looks like now...

I think it would look much better, be more mobile friendly, and have a cleaner look if there was a drop down menu. 2.1 already does this when selecting which blog you would like to post in and it does give a more cleaner and compact view.

What I would like to see...

  • And how to faciliate multiple selected Categories then?
You'd end up with a multiselect field which is as much mobile unfriendly as you claim the current checkboxes to be.

I'm open to suggestions that would reclaim the real estate and make the choice of categories more streamline, while adding more categories.

    Actually... While thinking about it...

Why not let people type out categories, the same way they type out tags?

  • While that might be a solution regarding mobile friendlyness, it is again not helpfull with the overview as you have to know how the categories are called ;)

Not if you allow members to make their own categories... Just as they can make their own tags
