Cropping avatars

Has the ability to crop avatars been removed? I can't find it.

When you upload a non-quadratic image with both height and width larger than 128px, you can click on the avatar next to "Upload Own Avatar" on the avatar management page and crop it.

There is a second part to my question, when cropping, you cant adjust the box size... so i cant select a square part of the image I want, except a pre-set size? On a large image this might be half of someones face...
