Ideally, when you click on the quote button... It should automatically be added to the quick editor.

It's adaptive, if the quick reply is open it will instantly insert it, otherwise it will just store it (WCF 2.0 behavior).

Mark something then the overlay appears. If you hit direct insert these will be inserted as you wanted it to happen doesnt it?

Yes, but that's not idea if the post is really long and someone quotes it. My members are use to having the quote button directly insert it as well. I'll just try to explain it to them.
The thing is sometimes it would not make sense to open it directly.
If for example one "collects" comments from this thread and some other to post in thread z then he would not be able to do so.
