I often hear Americans say how terrifying German sounds, no matter the words

  • And here I thought the paltry 34 characters in "Antidisestablishmentarianistically" were pushing the boundaries of the longest word.

  • I don't find German to be harsh at all

  • Dynamo = adam?

I don't know for sure, just seems to "sound" like him and they're very active as adam was before lol. (Not that it's bad thing of course, just was joking around/taking wild guess.)

  • Well not sure, but i never heard Adam had a 80 million post forum or even creating own plugins ?

  • @Rasty Such people are called "Dorftrottel" (village idiots) in Germany.

    Maybe Dorftrottel on LSD...

  • I wonder how Alexander knew I wasn't Adam. :O Maybe he knows Adam... Or maybe he IS ADAM?! I smell a conspiracy.

He's right, though, I'm no Adam. I do know an Adam, though, but I bet he isn't the same one either. :P

  • I operate FeralFront, which currently runs on SMF. I used to think it was the vast number of developers that have hacked on the code base over the years that I, ah, disagreed with strongly when it came to coding practices. Turns out that's just how SMF is written. Whether SMF's coding is good or bad is for other's to decide for themselves; for me it's definitely bad, and it's become a burden across pretty much all aspects of my particular forum.

  • That's one of the many problems. ;)

I was, however, off by 10%.

  • Try this:
    Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaftskapitän
    (Grand-Grandfather had that job!)

Or this: (//EDIT: Already posted by SoftCreatR without translation)
    Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft

(Association for subordinate officials of the head office management of the Danube steamboat electrical services)

German is fun. By the way, I can pronounce "squirrel" correctly, but even though i got a C1 english certificate some years ago i'm still not able to pronounce "th" correctly. Seriously, i just can't. I avoid it whenever possible. For example I never use numbers containing "three" in english. :D

    "Schreeehundred"

And I like to pronounce words wrong on purpose. I will never pronounce "children" like it's meant to be pronounced, i pronounce it like you would pronounce "child". Sounds better.
