This is caused by an ancient known bug in Firefox that occurs with collapsing borders and position: relative being applied to <td>, causing the background color to bleed through the border.

This can be fixed by applying background-clip: padding-box to the <td> as mentioned in this comment: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=688556#c43
