Rich Embeds

Links to content from one's own community have long been enhanced with useful additional information, such as the title of the respective content. Also, interactive content from selected media providers, such as YouTube, could be automatically embedded. WoltLab Suite 5.4 extends this enrichment of links with additional information for any links, as is known, for example, from social networks such as Facebook or Twitter.

Links that stand alone in a line without any other text are automatically downloaded by WoltLab Suite 5.4 after content creation and expanded in title, description and an image. The download is performed in the background, so the author does not have to wait for slow external services. The Open Graph protocol is used, which is already supported by many websites. Depending on the configured settings for embedding external images, the image is either downloaded to the author's own webspace in a privacy-compliant manner, routed through the image proxy integrated since WoltLab Suite 3.1, or embedded directly. If the link does not support the Open Graph protocol, only the link title is inserted automatically.

Official Posts

Careful observers may have already noticed the "Official Post" label and the "left arrow" in the buttons on the screenshot of the new Rich Embeds. Both are part of the new "Official Posts" feature in WoltLab Suite Forum. This feature allows users to easily jump to posts from team members in longer topics and thus find important announcements faster.

Display of Source Forums When Moving Topics

When moving topics, the source forums of the topics are now displayed in addition to the selectable destination.

Marking Topics and Posts

To speed up the execution of moderative actions on many posts, with WoltLab Suite 5.4 all posts of the current page can be marked with an action in the "Edit Thread" menu. This makes it easier, for example, to move posts to a new topic if a discussion has moved away from the original topic. Right next to it is a menu item to mark the topic itself without having to switch back to the forum and search for the topic in the list.

Notification of Change of Topic Title by Moderator

Notifications about moderative changes to own topics have been extended to include changes to the topic title.

Best Answers

The best answers feature, which was integrated with WoltLab Suite 5.2, have been further improved with WoltLab Suite 5.4. The selection of the best answers is now noted in the topic's change log.

And at the same time this action is also announced in the recent activities.
