3. Moderation

3.1. Administrative Options for Threads

Administrators, super moderators, and moderators can edit topics in different ways. The moderator options outlined here can be accessed through the drop-down menu at the bottom of each thread. In order to moderate a thread, the moderator must have adequate rights in the forum that the thread exists in.

3.1.1. Opening and Closing

After a thread is created, it is considered "open" and ready for replies. By selecting "Close" in the drop-down menu the thread can be closed. After a thread is closed, users can no longer create replies. If you wish, at a later time, the thread can be reopened by selecting "Open" from the drop-down menu. You can open and close a thread as many times as you like. Although a thread may be closed, moderators can still post replies.

3.1.2. Copy and move

A thread can be copied/moved in another board selecting the option Move/Copy. There are three possible ways:
  1. Move: The thread will be removed in the old forum an created in the new forum.
  2. Move thread and leave link in old forum: This option is like move except for leaving a link to the thread in the old forum.
  3. Copy thread into selected forum: A copy of this thread with all posts is created in the selected forum.

3.1.3. Edit

Selecting the Edit option will give you the chance to change the title of the thread as well as other thread related information (icons, importance, …)

3.1.4. Delete thread

Selecting the Delete Thread option will delete the thread with all posts. This cannot be made undone.

3.1.5. Divide thread

With this option you can choose posts which are cut from this thread. They will form a new thread.

3.1.6. Merge thread

With this option you can merge one thread with another one. All posts are sorted by posting time. The old thread will be deleted afterwards.

3.1.7. Stick and unstick thread

Selecting the option Stick/Unstick will position the thread on top of the thread list independent from the selected sorting. Additional it gets the prefix “Important”. Selecting again Stick/Unstick the thread will be handled like a normal thread.

3.1.8. Delete posts

With this option you can select many posts of one thread and delete them.

3.1.9. Add poll

Just like creating a new poll when opening a new thread you can also add a poll to an already opened thread. You can only add a poll if there is no poll already.

3.2. Options in the Moderator Control Panel

3.2.1. Edit threads

You can edit several different threads from one forum by using the Edit threads function. First choose the forum, the sorting and the number of threads displayed. On the next page the threads are displayed and an edit action can be chosen. (delete, move, close) Depending which action you have chosen there will be more settings to do.

3.2.2. Activate threads and posts

Depending on you settings threads and posts have to be activated for publishing. Not activated threads/posts are displayed and can be read. A moderator can select threads and posts which are to be activated.

3.2.3. Mass edit of threads

You can mass edit threads in the following ways:
  • Delete threads
  • Move threads
  • Close threads
  • Open threads
  • Remove thread suscriptions
The choice of threads can be set up in many different ways. E.g. choose all closed threads from a certain author from a certain forum.

The processing of your commands can use a lot of system resources and, therefore, should only be done when the forum is in offline mode. Using this function will not automatically update the forum information or user post counts, therefore, in order to have the correct data, you will need to refresh/update the user post counts and the forums (Refresh Information). The actions executed here cannot be cancelled or undone. Please use this function with extreme caution. There are no additional security warnings.
