Declaration of Data Protection

  1. § 1 Preamble

    WoltLab GmbH (hereafter WoltLab), takes the protection of your personal information very seriously and adheres strictly to the provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Telemedia Act (TMG). With the following declaration, we would like to inform you in detail about the handling of your data.


  2. § 2 Collection, Processing and Use of Personal Data

    • (1) You can visit WoltLab’s websites without disclosing any of your personal data. WoltLab uses its best endeavors to permanently improve and update its offer of information. To this end, each time WoltLab’s web pages are accessed non-personal data are collected for internal and statistical purposes. Data which are collected by the use of web analytics software when you visit the web pages of WoltLab are collected and stored in an anonymous way for marketing and optimisation purposes only. Based on the collected data, WoltLab creates user profiles in an anonymised form and for purposes of marketing, market research and improvement of information offer only. A conclusion on your person is not possible.
    • (2) In particular, when a web page of WoltLab is accessed, the following data are collected: name of the file which is accessed by each user on WoltLab’s website, the website from which these files have been accessed, date and time when the page has been accessed, the volume of transferred data, time spent on WoltLab’s website, status requests on successful file retrieval, the type of web browser used, source domain, the first two numeric blocks of the IP address and name of the internet provider.
    • (3) Your name, address, phone number, e-mail address or other personal data are not collected unless you voluntary share this information with WoltLab. WoltLab uses personal data in particular for registration of your customer account, through which you may acquire and we can deliver to you WoltLab’s Software and which is also used to maintain a support forum. Further, WoltLab uses these personal data for payment transactions. We need your birthday date in order to ensure the conclusion of an agreement with you as a person of legal age. If you provided personal data to WoltLab through the information system on the contact page, WoltLab will use these solely for the response (telephone or e-mail) with respect to the requested information. By entering your contact details in the contact form and your consent for the storage and use of the data, you grant WoltLab the permission to send the requested information and offers. Please find below a detailed overview of the collected and processed data for different functions:
      • Registration with the WoltLab customer account: user name, e-mail-address, password, name, surname, street and number, postal index, city/ village, country, birth date, payment details in case of an effective order
      • Contact request: e-mail-address, name, surname, street and number, postal index, city/ village, country
      • Support forum: e-mail-address, user name
    • (4) In order to apply certain functions and to improve the attractiveness of our web page, WoltLab uses so called cookies. These are text files which are stored on your computer. Most of the cookies stored by WoltLab will be deleted from your hard drive at the end of the browser session (so called session cookies). Other cookies remain on your computer to enable WoltLab to recognise your computer at your next visit (so called permanent cookies). You may apply certain settings to your browser that you will be informed every time a cookie is about to be stored. Under this setting you can decide on a case by case basis to accept or to reject cookies. You may also apply a setting to permanently reject cookies. In this case, however, access to WoltLab’s web page might be limited.

  3. § 3 Transfer of Data

    Your data will always be treated confidential. We will not transfer, sell or otherwise submit your personal data to third parties.


  4. § 4 Information Right

    You are entitled to request information about your data free of charge. In addition, you are entitled to request correction, blocking or deletion of your data, as the case may be. Please approach our contact person for data protection.
